
About Katarmal Sun Temple Uttaranchal India:
Katarmal is 800-years old Sun Temple. The main deity of the Sun temple is commonly known as “Baraditya” facing east. This is the biggest temple in Kumaon region. This temple was built by Katarmal, the medieval king of Katyuri dynasty.
There are as many as 45 miniature shrines in different groups clustering around the main shrine seem to be constructed at different period. The main temple is Triratha on plan having curvilinear Shikhara of Nagara style with square Garbhagriha, while the Antrala and the two Mandapas were added later on.
This temple is 10 kms far from Almora Hill Station. This temple is the second famous sun temple after the Konark in Orissa.
Katarmal Sun Temple Tour Itinerary:
Time Duration: 3 Nights - 4 Days
Tour Destinations:Delhi – Almora – Katramal Suntemple – Almora - Delhi
Day 1: Delhi to Almora (320 kms.)
Early morning drive to Almora hill station. On the way you will cover very famous hill station such as Bhimtal, Bhawali, Khairna. Evening reach at Almora. Dinner and overnight stay at Almora.
Day 2: Almora to Kosi Katarmal Sun Temple (12 kms. 2kms trekking)
Early morning after breakfast drive to Kosi. Your trek starts to Katarmal sun temple start from that place. Visit sun temple at Katarmal. Afternoon return back to Almora. Take your lunch. Evening go to visit Kasar Devi Temple and Chitai Temple. Evening stay at hotel Almora.
Day 3: Almora to Kathgodam to Delhi
Morning after breakfast drive back to Delhi.
